I have heard mixed reviews on the Cohorted Beauty Boxes on the grapevine however I do love the idea of having a beauty box which provides a number of high end products so I thought I would give it a try for myself to obtain my own opinion on the monthly luxury beauty box.
Therefore I signed up in October and received my first box in November.
I was so excited to receive
this through my letterbox and rushed to rip open the cardboard. On first
impressions, the products were encased in the Cohorted signature black box and
secured with a black ribbon providing a luxurious and look and feel to it.
The November issues
showcases four brands including Laura Mercier, Cargo, Evolve Organic Beauty and
Dr Paw Paw. The core theme of this box is to help enhance complexion through
the winter months and ensure you sparkle throughout the party season!
The first product is Cargo
All Around the World Eyeshadow Palette (RRP £35.00). This palatte includes 12
shades, which are mainly cool toned. The palette is arranged into 3 quads and 6
duos of coordinated shades to achieve a variety of looks. It also includes a
duel ended brush and a large handy mirror. I would definitely say that this
palette is good for every day use as they are quite neutral in tone. With a few
swatches they don’t seem hugely pigmented but perhaps layered up they will give
a good colour pay off.
Next up is The Laura
Mercier Foundation Primer Protect SPF 30 (Full size £29.00). I have received
this product a number of times in beauty boxes but it is definitely a great
product so always good to have another one put away for travelling. For those
of you who have not used this product before, this is a great primer to create
a smooth surface before applying make up. It’s aim is to provide a smooth
texture and helps make up last longer. This product also has the added benefit
of having UVA protection. I find this product quite hydrating rather than
leaving a silicon type texture like other primers I have used in the past.
I have heard a lot about
the Dr Paw Paw Original Balm (RRP £6.95) as being a great multitasker from a
skin protector and moisturiser to help with sun burn, skin irritations and even
as a hair conditioning treatment. I’m definitely looking forward to using this
however I am not sure this really sits within a premium beauty box like
Cohorted. As this is my first box from them I’m not sure if this is the type of
product they include usually but as Cohorted promote themselves as a high end
beauty box this product in my opinion does not sit within this box.
The final product is the Evolve
Organic Beauty’s Hyaluronic Serum 200 (RRP £28.00). This is by far my favourite product in this
box. So much so, I have written up a whole full blog post just on this
particular product (coming soon!) therefore I won’t write a huge amount about
my thoughts on this. The aim of this serum is to help with
hydration and help plump up fine lines and wrinkles. It is a hundred percent vegan and is made right here in the UK.
My overall verdict of my first Cohorted Box is that the
product choice could have been better. Although it does achieve the aim of
providing useful items to get you through the winter months I would perhaps
expect some more high end products for the premium brand they are trying to portray.
I’m am certainly not going to right them off yet after only one box so here’s
to the December box!
